中核集团福建福清核电有限公司成立于2006年5月16日，项目一次规划、连续建设6台百万千瓦级压水堆核电机组。1-4号机组采用二代改进型成熟核电技术，5-6号机组采用具有我国自主知识产权的三代核电技术“华龙一号”。

2008年11月21日，福清核电项目开工建设。2014-2017年，1-4号机组相继投入商业运行。2015年5月7日，“华龙一号”示范工程开工建设，入选《中华人民共和国大事记》。2021年1月30日，“华龙一号”全球首堆福清核电5号机组投入商业运行，入选《中国共产党一百年大事记》。2022年3月25日，6号机组投入商业运行，“华龙一号”示范工程全面建成，入选《党的十九大以来大事记》，标志着我国核电技术水平和综合实力迈入世界第一方阵，有力支撑了我国由核电大国向核电强国的跨越。

福清核电1-6号机组总装机容量超过667.8万千瓦，年发电能力500亿度，成为福建省装机容量最大的核电基地，为地方经济快速发展注入强劲动力，为优化我国能源结构、推动绿色低碳发展，助力实现“碳达峰、碳中和”目标具有重要意义。

CNNC Fujian Fuqing Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. was founded on May 16, 2006. It is scheduled to construct six 1000-megawatt PWR units in Fuqing Nuclear Power Base, with unit 1-4 adopting sophisticated G-ll improved reactors, and unit 5-6 adopting the G-lll nuclear technology with China's own intellectual property---HPR1000.

The construction of Fuqing Nuclear Power Plant project was commenced on November 21, 2008. Units 1-4 were put into commercial operation during 2014-2017. The construction of HPR1000 demonstration project was commenced on May 7, 2015, and listed in the Chronicle of the People’s Republic of China. The first-of-a-kind “HPR 1000”, unit 5 of Fuqing Nuclear Power Plant was put into commercial operation on January 30, 2021, which was listed in the Chronicle of the Communist Party of China (July 1921-June 2021). On March 25, 2022, Unit 6 was put into commercial operation, and HPR1000 demonstration project was completed，which was listed in the Chronicle since the 19th CPC National Congress. This marks that China’s nuclear power technology and comprehensive strength reaches the world’s first-class level and greatly supports China’s leap from a large nuclear power country to a strong nuclear power country.

Fuqing Units 1-6 have a total installed capacity of over 6678MW and can generate 50 billion kilowatts’ electricity. As a nuclear power base with the largest installed capacity in Fujian, it instills a strong momentum into the fast development of local economy and plays a significant role in optimizing China’s energy structure, driving green and low-carbon development, and facilitating the achievement of emission peak and carbon neutrality.
